People and Land (PAL) Program
The People and Land (PAL) Initiative, funded by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, is a program of the Land Policy Institute. The goal of the initiative is to establish permanent land use capacity at MSU to address land policy issues at the community, regional and state levels. The program has several objectives, including to:
- Enhance the ability of higher education institutions to provide science-based information and effective outreach to citizens and land use decision makers.
- Empower Michigan communities to solve land use problems through regional collaboration.
- Enable organizations to reach common ground with respect to future land use goals.
Through PAL, we have been able to provide re-grants to community and university partnerships, engage in policy-relevant research and outreach endeavors, and establish new programs that will address land use issues on a long-term basis.
The Land Policy Institute's partner for PAL is Public Sector Consultants, Inc. More information on the PAL Initiative and its impacts can be found at: www.peopleandland.org/.
