Meetings
With the help of the PZC Project Team and other local watershed groups, PZC organized and led three public meetings held in the Cass, Rifle, and Pigeon/Pinnebog River Sub-Watersheds from April 21 to April 28, 2011. These meetings were a catalyst for local citizens and stakeholder groups to learn how local planning, zoning and coordinated efforts among various stakeholder groups can play a larger part in protecting and improving water quality in the entire Saginaw Bay region.
Subsequent public meetings on this project will be held in December 2011 and June 2012. Please Contact Us if you would like to be notified of upcoming public meetings.

Nine local government workshops (three within each of the three sub-watersheds) will be held for the purposes of educating local elected officials and planning commissioners on what they can do to protect water quality in their communities. Sessions will focus on the development of water quality protection measures in local master plans and zoning ordinances. This will be done by providing sample language for master plans and zoning ordinances for contemporary Best Management Practices. Please

Saginaw Bay Watershed Conference (March 16, 2012)
Stakeholder groups from around the Lake Huron Basin, and particularly the Saginaw Bay watershed, will gather on Friday, March 16, 2012, at Curtiss Hall on the campus of Saginaw Valley State University in University Center, to discuss water quality restoration efforts in the region as part of the Planning & Zoning Center's (PZC) Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI) Saginaw Bay Watershed project. The day-long event will feature a host of speakers from various organizations and governmental agencies, offering their perspectives on the challenges and success stories surrounding water quality protection efforts in the Bay. Attendees will be given the opportunity to select from nine breakout sessions on such topics as the accumulation of beach muck, and the control of aquatic invasive species.
