LPI Announces Fall 2009/Spring 2010 New Economy Series 2.0 for Legislators

The Land Policy Institute at MSU begins a new series of its popular Legislative Forums on Wednesday, October 28, 2009, with "The Realization of the Green Economy in Michigan."

Presenting at this forum will be U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow (video presentation); Stanley "Skip" Pruss, Director of the Michigan Department of Energy, Labor and Economic Growth; and Dr. Soji Adelaja, John A. Hannah Distinguished Professor in Land Policy and Director of the Land Policy Institute. Learn more at Forum Speakers.

This exceptional panel will focus on how the Green Economy is a priority of Washington D.C., and is becoming a growing reality in Michigan, and the nation.

Additional forums in this series are slated to begin in January 2010, following the legislature's November-December break. Topics will cover:

  • Tuesday, January 19, 2010: The Problem and Promise of Detroit

  • Tuesday, March 23, 2010: The Policies for Placemaking (Stimulus II)
  • Tuesday, May 18, 2010: Renewable Energy 2.0

The initiative--focusing on the critical issues facing Michigan--is intended to provide timely science-based research that is useful to policy makers in the State of Michigan government, and other engaged stakeholders.
