2010: LPI Year in Review

LPI Outreach

The Land Policy Institute has also been in the trenches helping communities learn how to transition from the Old to New Economy, with timely workshops and presentations by our faculty and researchers, MSU Extension agents and Land Policy Educators. Cropland Data Layer Project

Entrepreneurial Communities Program

Great Place Network
The Great Place Network was officially launched in November 2010. It is a joint effort between MSU Extension, the MSU Land Policy Institute and the Michigan Department of Energy, Labor and Economic Growth (DELEG). It is supported by information and research from MSUE and LPI.

Land Policy Educators
The LPI and MSU Extension Regional Land Policy Educators Glenn Pape and Kurt Schindler and County Land Policy Educator Brad Neumann assisted in the Michigan Prosperity Initiative trainings and events, Michigan Citizen Planner trainings and other events within their regions. Kurt Schindler was also honored with two awards for excellence and exceptional contributions.

There are two classroom programs currently scheduled for 2011: Central Upper Peninsula (January 10-February 21, 2011) and Montcalm County (January 29 - March 3, 2011)

Michigan Higher Education Land Policy (MIHELP) Consortium

2010 Michigan Land and Prosperity Summit: New Decade, New Strategies, New Economy
The 2010 Summit highlighted federal strategies for place-based economic development and featured several prominent speakers. Check out the presentations from this exciting event.

Be sure to save the date for next year's Summit slated for Friday, April 8, 2011, at the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center in East Lansing. More details coming in 2011.
