Michigan has had a long history of copper mining, especially in the U.P. When the mines were too deep for profitable operations, they closed (the last in 1969). Now there are several tours that showcase the mining heritage of the state.

Participants will have a better understanding of the issues and concerns of individual development and installation of solar panels, outdoor biofuel and wood-burning furnaces, wind generators at residences and small businesses. Also focus on what would be inappropriate points to regulate, and what may be better not to
regulate--from a zoning perspective.
