Detroit, with a population of 886,675, is the eleventh most populous city in the U.S. and the largest in Michigan. It is located in Wayne County and is known as the world's automotive center and an important source for popular music, leading to its nicknames of Motor City and Motown. Detroit has faced declining fiscal capacities due to persistent migration of its residents to suburban communities, but its leaders have been spearheading efforts at urban renewal and economic resuscitation. Detroit hosts the annual North American Auto Show, and the city hosted the Super Bowl in 2006.
